European Stocks Close Higher Except In UK

Italy's FTSE MIB performs best, rising 0.56%; UK's FTSE loses 0.38%

European stocks closed higher Monday, except in the UK.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up 0.68 points, or 0.13%, to finish at 505.93.

Germany's DAX 30 rose 96 points, or 0.54%, to close the first trading day of the week at 16,026. France's CAC 40 rose 34 points, or 0.43%, to 8,045.

Italy's FTSE MIB was the best performer of the day, rising 190 points, or 0.56%, to 33,954.

Spain's IBEX 35 gained just 1.2 points, or 0.01%, to finish the day almost flat at 10,687.

The UK's FTSE 100, on the other hand, lost 30 points, or 0.38%, to close at 7,965. -
