Turkish citizens stranded in the Gaza Strip are having difficulty leaving the region as a result of travel restrictions and obstacles imposed due to the Israeli attacks that began on October 7, 2023. Turkish citizens in Gaza who want to reunite with their spouses and relatives organized a demonstration. In the demonstration, where the Turkish flag was carried, calls were made on Turkey, Egypt, and the international community to take action to facilitate the travel procedures of families separated from one another because of the attacks.

LOST THEIR FATHER IN THE ATTACKS

Turkish citizen Afnan Shahin, who lost their father in the attacks, said, 'We were stranded in Gaza with my family and are living under extremely difficult conditions. My father was a Turkish citizen; before he passed away, he did everything he could to get us out of Gaza.' Shahin said, 'Please help me, my sick mother, and my family. We are waiting for your help in Gaza before we suffer more and lose more of our loved ones.'

SEPARATED FROM HER HUSBAND FOR 3 YEARS

Maryam Al-Manayea, whose husband is a Turkish citizen, stated that she has been constantly suffering for about 3 years because she has been separated from her husband. Al-Manayea expressed hope that Turkey's efforts would help her travel and reunite with her husband. Saying, 'I have been suffering for 3 years and I want to reunite with my husband,' Al-Manayea requested that every effort be made to help her leave the Gaza Strip. Al-Manayea also called on the relevant institutions and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to facilitate the opening of the Rafah Border Crossing for humanitarian aid and thus enable stranded families to leave the region and reunite with their loved ones.

Al-Manayea emphasized that her husband had obtained a medical referral for her from a hospital in Turkey, but that she had been unable to travel despite trying repeatedly. Al-Manayea stated that her only wish was to reunite with her husband as soon as possible.
