Thus, the Mexican representative finished second in the group, alongside Inter Milan's 2-0 victory over River Plate, securing a critical matchup against Dortmund in Atlanta.

After the match, Monterrey's head coach Domenec Torrent said, "We are very happy to have advanced to the next round. Additionally, our club will celebrate its 80th anniversary on Saturday. This victory is even more meaningful for us." Torrent also mentioned the difficulty level of the group they represented, stating, "It was not easy to win without conceding a goal in this group."
