In Esenyurt, a person who had previously set fire to his ex-girlfriend's building has now poured gasoline on her apartment and set it on fire. When her father shouted, 'What are you doing?', he lit the lighter and fled. The flames were captured on a mobile phone camera. The family stated that despite filing complaints multiple times, they received no results, and they asked authorities for help.

In Esenyurt, a man who had previously set fire to his ex-girlfriend's building and repeatedly broken its windows, this time set the building ablaze. While the father, who was inside the apartment at the time, shouted at the man pouring gasoline, "What are you doing?", the ex-lover flicked his lighter and fled. The moment the building caught fire was captured second by second on a mobile phone camera.

Father barely escaped the fire

FATHER BARELY ESCAPED THE FIRE

In recent months, the young man, whose girlfriend had broken up with him, made life miserable for the family. The man, who came to the street at night, broke the windows four times and tried to set the building on fire twice, came back again last night. The father, who had been forced to move to his hometown out of fear of the man and had come to have the windows of the house replaced, was sleeping on the sofa when the man started pouring gasoline into the apartment. When he heard the sound and said, "What are you doing?", the man flicked his lighter and fled the scene. As the building's wall was engulfed in flames, the neighbors intervened. Upon the report, police and fire brigade teams arrived at the scene, and the police launched an operation to catch the man who set the building on fire. Those moments were captured on camera second by second.

He did it knowing I was inside

"HE DID IT KNOWING I WAS INSIDE"

The father of the man's ex-girlfriend, speaking about the incident, said, "The man dated my daughter for a while, and my daughter broke up with him unwillingly. When my daughter said she didn't want him, he started threatening her, saying, 'I will make your life hell.' He has done everything to us for the past 4-5 months. He came 3-4 times and broke the windows of our house. Before this incident, he once tried to set the apartment on fire with gasoline. Another time, he tried to set the building on fire by burning tires at the entrance. Last night, knowing I was inside, he poured gasoline into the apartment and set it on fire. We barely put it out with the neighbors; if we hadn't noticed, I would have burned. From now on, we don't know what he will do; maybe he'll shoot at us."

Continuing his speech, the father asked authorities for help, saying, "We have reported the man many times. He says, 'Nothing will happen to me, no one can do anything to me.' As a citizen, I want to live comfortably and peacefully in my home. I ask for help from the state officials."

I filed a complaint every time but no result came out

"I FILED A COMPLAINT EVERY TIME, BUT NO RESULT CAME OUT"

M.Ö., who moved to Ordu after the threats, described what she experienced, saying, "I ended my 1-year relationship because he subjected me to violence. I broke up. I didn't want to get back together. He continued to harass me. He started harassing my family. Previously, he had sent messages saying, 'I'm coming to shoot you with a gun.' I went to the police station and filed a complaint. I didn't want to reconcile with him, so I cut off communication. When he started harassing my family, I lifted the block and complied with his demands until our court case concluded. Since I was tired of his behavior, I blocked him again. That evening, our house window was broken. My family said the way to get rid of him was to return to our hometown. So I returned to my hometown. He continued to break the windows of our house in Istanbul. He tried to set it on fire and threw Molotov cocktails. Every time, I tirelessly filed complaints. But no result came out. There's no prosecutor's office, courthouse, or police station I haven't been to. There's no one I haven't cried and begged to. I can't get rid of this trouble. I live in fear of death."
