STATEMENT FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

On the last day of the CHP's 39th Ordinary Congress, where the elections for the 80-member Party Council (PM) and the 15-member High Disciplinary Board (YDK) were held, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements after casting his vote.

Stating that they changed the party statute on the first day to increase the number of PM members from 60 to 80, Özel said, "Yesterday there was a presidential election. As we promised earlier, we established a process in which the current chairman, who we put in our statute, will not collect signatures, thus making it open to everyone who wants to be a candidate, all 1,370 delegates. Our friends said they did not put their candidacy for the chairmanship. Yesterday, we achieved success with the highest vote in the history of the party, receiving all valid votes with 1,333 votes," he said.

"TURKEY SHOULD BE READY FOR A CHP THAT EXPRESSES THE GOAL OF POWER"

Özel continued his speech as follows: "We are starting our march to power with a very strong team from tomorrow. This strong unity in the party will be good for our party, our members, and everyone who hopes for a change of power in Turkey. We will walk the path to power. We will keep our demand for early elections alive. CHP will solve the known problems by going door to door, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood. As I said yesterday, Turkey should be ready for a CHP that expresses the goal of power, which goes out to the streets, fills the squares, knocks on doors, enters homes, states the problems and their solutions, organizes factories, organizes workers, and explains how to solve the issues related to agriculture and livestock, and presents the most comprehensive solutions on every issue from Turkey's foreign policy to security concerns."
