In the interview, Tedesco described himself, emphasizing that he is accustomed to stressful environments, stating, "I am a calm person and that is a positive thing. I am used to stressful situations in my job, I can focus on what is important, and I do not make excuses." Tedesco also pointed out a flaw about himself, saying, "I have one flaw: I want too much from myself and I do not enjoy my successes."

Responding to a question from La Gazzetta dello Sport regarding the possibility of coaching the Italian National Team, Tedesco said that the federation's interest made him happy. The experienced coach described being among the candidates as "a great honor" and expressed his happiness about Gattuso being appointed to the position. Tedesco remarked, "I liked him very much as a player, he is a very good coach: intensity, mentality, and professionalism," and highlighted their common ground with the words, "Also, we are both Calabrians."
