The Transition to High Schools System (LGS) exam has been moved to Saturday, June 13, due to a clash with the A National Team's match in the World Cup. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that schools will be closed for one day on Friday, June 12, while no changes have been made to the YKS scheduled for June 20.

The Turkish National Football Team's first match against Australia in Group D of the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 14, coincided with the Transition to Secondary Education (LGS) exam, prompting the Ministry of National Education to make changes to the calendar.

"FOR OUR CHILDREN TO SHARE IN THIS EXCITEMENT..."

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated, "After the Kosovo match, we learned that the time for our first match in the group stage will be around 07:00 AM Turkish time on Sunday, June 14. We immediately brought this issue to our agenda to ensure that our children can share in the excitement of our athletes representing our star and crescent flag and to allow them to comfortably watch and support the matches. The LGS exam, which we announced would take place on June 14 as part of the transition from primary education to secondary education, will be held on Saturday, June 13 at the same time," he said.

SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED ON JUNE 12

Minister Tekin also announced that schools will be closed on June 12 as part of the exam preparations. Personnel working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day.

NO CHANGE IN YKS CALENDAR

On the other hand, sources from the Higher Education Council (YÖK) reported that there will be no changes to the university exam calendar. The Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), which coincides with the Turkey–Paraguay match scheduled for June 20, will be held as planned at 10:00 AM.
