An explosion occurred at a steel factory in the town of Xaloztoc, Tlaxcala state, Mexico, during the night. In a statement made by the company, it was reported that liquid steel was spilled after the explosion and that 12 workers lost their lives. The state prosecutor's office stated that one person's condition is critical among the injured. The fire that broke out in the factory after the explosion was extinguished by the fire brigade.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED REGARDING THE EXPLOSION
The state civil protection unit noted that the explosion may have occurred after the melting machine collapsed. While the company announced that an investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion, it is known that contact between molten steel and water can lead to an explosion.
Tlaxcala State Governor Lorena Cuellar expressed her condolences to the families of the deceased workers.
