A device resembling an explosive, noticed by teachers in the morning at a secondary school in the Reyers area of Schaerbeek, one of the largest districts in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, where many Turks live, was immediately reported to the police by the school administration. Local police spokesperson Katlien Breugelmans stated that patrol teams were directed to the school around 08:00 following the report. Breugelmans said, 'Police teams evacuated the entire school as per security procedures. Students were taken out in a controlled manner, and a temporary security cordon was established around the area. No panic or injuries occurred during the incident.'
BOMB DISPOSAL TEAM CALLED
Upon the incident being reported to the police, teams from the Belgian Explosive Disposal Service (SEDEE) were also dispatched to the scene. During the examination by SEDEE teams at the scene, it was understood that the device was an inactive explosive device. It was reported that the bomb disposal team removed the explosive device from the school safely. According to initial examinations, it was stated that the device was not active but was found to be of a nature that could pose a risk. It was noted that after the explosive device was removed from the school, the building was checked again and confirmed to be safe. It was reported that the students calmly returned to their classrooms under the guidance of the police and school administration.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
