After the announcement of the minimum wage for 2026, attention has turned to salary increases for civil servants and retirees. The inflation rate for December, which TÜİK will announce on January 5, will finalize the six-month increase rates. According to five months of data, a 11.20% increase is expected for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees, while a 17.55% increase is anticipated for civil servants and civil servant retirees; if the annual inflation comes in the range of 31-33%, the increases for retirees are expected to be between 12.28-14%, and for civil servants between 18.70-20.51%.
After the announcement of the net minimum wage of 28,075 TL for 2026, attention turned to the salary increases for civil servants and retirees. The inflation rate for December, which will be announced by TÜİK on January 5, will finalize the 6-month increase rates. According to the data from the last 5 months, the increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees is calculated to be 11.20%, while for civil servants and civil servant retirees, it is calculated to be 17.55%.
ATTENTION ON THE INFLATION TO BE ANNOUNCED ON JANUARY 5
The salary increase for civil servants and civil servant retirees is determined based on collective agreements and inflation differences, while the increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees is directly calculated according to the 6-month inflation rate. The inflation for December, which will be announced by TÜİK on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM, will clarify the increase rates for the first 6 months of the year.
AFFECTING 17 MILLION RETIREES AND 4 MILLION CIVIL SERVANTS
The data to be announced will determine the increase rate for approximately 17 million retirees and 4 million civil servants. Additionally, social assistance payments, 65-year-old pensions, disability pensions, and home care support will also be updated according to these figures.
5-MONTH INCREASE RATES HAVE BEEN REVEALED
In November, the CPI increased by 0.87%, while the annual inflation was realized at 31.07%. After the 5-month data, the increase differences also emerged. Accordingly:
- SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees: 11.20%
- Civil servants and civil servant retirees: 17.55%
With the December data, the final increase rates will be confirmed.
SCENARIOS ACCORDING TO THE CENTRAL BANK'S EXPECTATIONS
According to the evaluation of Tarkan Zengin, a lecturer at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, the increase rates may shape as follows based on the Central Bank's annual inflation forecast range of 31-33%:
IF ANNUAL INFLATION IS 31%
- SSK and Bağ-Kur retiree increase: 12.28%
- Civil servant and civil servant retiree increase: 18.70%
IF ANNUAL INFLATION IS 33%
- SSK and Bağ-Kur retiree increase: 14%
- Civil servant and civil servant retiree increase: 20.51%
INCREASED SALARIES WILL BE DEPOSITED IN ACCOUNTS BY MID-JANUARY
Civil servants and retirees are expected to see their increased salaries in their accounts starting from mid-January.
POSSIBLE INCREASE IN THE LOWEST RETIREMENT PENSION AND CIVIL SERVANT SALARIES
If the annual inflation is 31%, the calculated example increases are as follows:
- Lowest retirement pension: 16,881 TL → 18,953 TL
- Lowest civil servant retirement pension: 19,617 TL → 23,285 TL
- Lowest civil servant salary: 50,503 TL → 59,947 TL
