Family on vacation shocked by burglary! A momentary distraction cost them 100 thousand liras.

The Akkaya family, who came to Istanbul from Antalya for a vacation, became the target of a thief while they were leaving the hotel they stayed in Şişli and loading their belongings into their car. The suspect took advantage of the family's momentary distraction and stole the bag and phone in the car. The moments were captured on security cameras.

SHOPPING NOTIFICATIONS STARTED COMING TO THEIR PHONE

The incident took place on Sunday around 12:45 on Cumhuriyet Avenue in Şişli. Nazire Akkaya and her family, who came to Istanbul from Antalya for a vacation, left the hotel in Şişli. While the family was loading their belongings into the car's trunk, they became the target of a thief who took advantage of their momentary distraction.

While the Akkaya family was loading their belongings into the trunk, the suspect approached the car and stole the bag and cell phone inside the car through the front door. About 10 minutes later, Nazire Akkaya realized that the phone and bag were not in the car and called the police. Upon the notification, police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams started working to catch the thief. After a while, Nazire Akkaya started receiving online shopping confirmation notifications on her cell phone.

"EVERYTHING WAS IN MY BAG, WE ARE LEFT WITH NOTHING"

Nazire Akkaya said, "We came from Antalya as guests. We checked into the hotel. We have been here for five days and decided to leave on the sixth day. We brought our belongings from the hotel and while we were loading them into the trunk, my daughter's phone and my bag were in the front of the car. While we were loading our belongings into the trunk, the thief came and opened the front door of the car and took my daughter's phone and our bag with our personal belongings. We went to the park to have tea with the children. The children noticed that the phone and bag were missing. We called the police, the police team came, the teams looked around. Then we asked the shopkeepers about the security cameras on the other side, and then we examined the cameras. We realized that there was a theft from the security cameras. My bag contained my driver's license, ID, personal belongings, my daughter's phone, and all my credit cards. We are currently broke here, they were worth almost 100 thousand liras."
