Farmer Süleyman Kır, who was injured by a lion named 'Zeus' that escaped from an animal park in the Manavgat district of Antalya, was discharged after treatment at the hospital.

"WE WILL CONTINUE THE PROCESS ON AN OUTPATIENT BASIS, WE WILL CALL FOR CHECK-UPS AT SHORT INTERVALS"

Dr. Mertcan Karagül, a Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon at Akdeniz University Hospital, told reporters that Kır, who had been receiving treatment for about 5 days, was hospitalized due to multiple injuries related to the lion attack.

He forgave the lion that attacked him: It has no fault

Karagül stated that the patient had a complete cut in the ear area and various injuries on the face, body, and legs, saying, "We applied a closed dressing to reduce the risk of infection. The wounds were treated, and we kept him under close observation. His inpatient treatment has ended, and we have discharged our patient. We will continue the process on an outpatient basis. We will call for check-ups at short intervals, and antibiotic treatment will continue."

"I HAVE COUNTLESS STITCH SCARS"

Süleyman Kır thanked all the healthcare personnel who took care of him. Expressing his gratitude to everyone from the management of Akdeniz University to the doctors and healthcare workers, Kır said, "I have countless stitch scars on my body. We have overcome this process, but now the legal process will begin. I will fight for the perpetrators to be punished both materially and morally."

Kır stated that he has been a shepherd for 41 years and has never encountered any aggressive wild animals in the Toros Mountains throughout his life, saying, "I have not seen wild animals in the Toros, but I encountered a lion in the plain of Manavgat."

"I FORGIVE THE LION, IT HAS NO FAULT"

Describing his experience, Kır noted: "I was planting peanuts. That day, after working in the field with my wife, we decided to rest a bit. We were sleeping under a blanket. My wife said there was something at our feet. I lifted the blanket, and the lion jumped on me. It bit my feet, I grabbed its neck and squeezed its throat. At one point, it wrapped around my throat, and we struggled. Then it moved away a bit. The gendarmerie and police teams arrived. I was first taken to Manavgat State Hospital and then transferred to Akdeniz University Hospital." Kır said, "I forgive the lion. I do not forgive malicious people. The lion really has no fault."
