Selahaddin and his son Mecit Kaya, in a car that plunged into the Çoruh River on the Artvin-Şavşat State Highway, were swept away by the current and disappeared. Teams have launched a search and rescue operation for the father and son.

Selahaddin (65) and his son Mecit Kaya (45) went missing after their car plunged into the Çoruh River in Artvin. A search and rescue operation has been launched for the father and son, who were reportedly swept away by the current.

CAR THAT FELL INTO THE RIVER REACHED

The accident occurred on the Artvin-Şavşat State Highway in the morning hours. The car carrying Selahaddin and his son Mecit Kaya plunged into the Çoruh River. Upon notification, AFAD, Hopa Marine Police, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. As a result of the teams' efforts, the vehicle was reached within the river. 

SEARCH FOR FATHER AND SON CONTINUES

However, examinations revealed no trace of the father and son in the vehicle. Search and rescue operations have been initiated for the father and son, who are believed to have been swept away by the river's current.

Efforts are underway to remove the vehicle from its location, while the investigation into the accident continues.
