The leader of the New Welfare Party (YRP), Fatih Erbakan, reacted to the discussions about a meeting with PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı, suggesting an interesting proposal. Erbakan stated, "If a meeting is to be held with Öcalan, it should be conducted personally by Devlet Bahçeli. Since Öcalan cannot come to the Parliament, then Mr. Bahçeli, who invites him to the Parliament, should go to Imralı to meet him."

The New Welfare Party (YRP) reacted to the discussions regarding the meeting with PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı by the Terror-Free Turkey Commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Erbakan made a noteworthy call to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
ERBAKAN'S REACTION TO THE SUGGESTION "THE COMMISSION SHOULD MEET ÖCALAN"
Erbakan stated: "As is known, a National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission was established in the TBMM to solve the terrorism problem that has caused great pain to our nation. The issue of a delegation from this commission going to İmralı to meet with Abdullah Öcalan has been on the agenda for a long time.
"IF ÖCALAN CANNOT COME TO THE ASSEMBLY, THEN BAHÇELİ SHOULD GO TO İMRALI"
As the New Welfare Party, we say that it is not right for this commission representing the TBMM to go to İmralı. If a meeting is to be held with Abdullah Öcalan, then it should be done personally by Mr. Devlet Bahçeli. Mr. Bahçeli, as someone who initiated this entire process and stated that it is necessary to meet with Öcalan, saying that Öcalan's views are very important, should go to İmralı and meet Öcalan one-on-one. If Öcalan cannot come to the Assembly, then Mr. Bahçeli, who invited him to the Assembly, should go to İmralı to be with him. Afterwards, he should come back and inform the commission."
