Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan reacted against the security officer when he was not allowed into the corridor at the Çağlayan Courthouse. An indictment has been prepared against Aslan, requesting up to 3 years in prison for the charge of "resisting the execution of duty."
In the fourth wave operation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), an investigation was launched against IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, who went to the Çağlayan Courthouse to meet with his colleagues but reacted to the security chief when he was not allowed into the courthouse corridor.
An indictment was prepared against Nuri Aslan for the crime of "resisting the execution of duty" against the security chief on duty at the Çağlayan Courthouse, with a request for up to 3 years in prison.
"MY WORDS ARE INTENDED TO EXPRESS THE DIFFICULTY I EXPERIENCED"
Aslan, who was called to give a statement as part of the investigation, went to the courthouse and provided his testimony. In his statement, Aslan said that he went to the courthouse to follow the process of the institution's employees being transferred there after their detention and to obtain information.
Aslan expressed that trying to obtain information about the institution's employees as the deputy president of a public institution is part of his duty and responsibility, stating, "Although there was a brief verbal argument between the security personnel and me at the courthouse entrance and corridors, my words are not directed at any official. They are completely aimed at expressing my own situation and the difficulty I experienced. I have not made any threats, insults, or engaged in any behavior that would prevent the execution of duty."
Aslan stated that there was no question of obstructing the duties of the security personnel there, and that the events that day were solely aimed at visiting his friends, noting that his actions and words had no causal link to any crime or incident. In his interrogation, Aslan did not accept the charge of "resisting the execution of duty" against him.
