200 WORKERS WERE STAYING
The fire occurred in the morning hours at the earthquake housing construction site continuing in Çavuşoğlu Neighborhood. Upon the report of those who saw smoke rising from the container dormitories where over 200 workers were staying, numerous fire brigade and police teams were dispatched to the area.
The flames, which grew rapidly, spread to the adjacent containers. Workers who noticed the fire left the dormitories and moved to a safe area. While fire brigade teams intervened in the fire with 10 vehicles and 40 personnel, police teams also took security measures around the construction site. Teams also made intense efforts to prevent the diesel tanker in the fire area from catching fire.
NO FATALITIES
After approximately 2 hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control. While there were no fatalities or injuries in the fire, 180 containers became unusable. Fire brigade teams carried out cooling work in the area. An investigation was initiated to determine the cause of the fire.
