Firecracker factory explosion in India: 11 dead

At least 11 people, including children, were killed and 5 others injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to NDTV channel, an explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh.

11 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES

Officials stated that 11 people, including children, died in the hospital after being taken there following the explosion. Noting that all those who lost their lives resided near the factory, officials also said that treatment of 5 injured people is ongoing.

Following the explosion, which caused destruction and damage to structures in the vicinity, debris removal and search and rescue efforts are continuing.

DEATH TOLL MAY RISE

It is assessed that the death toll from the explosion may increase. According to a written statement from the Indian Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the explosion and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
