The first images have arrived regarding the passenger ship that capsized off the coast of Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. While it is seen that pieces of the ship, which sank shortly after departing from the port, have spread across the sea surface, the rescue operation launched by air and sea in the region continues.

Emergency crews have been put on alert after a passenger ship capsized and overturned approximately 2 kilometers after departing from the Girne port in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, due to an as-yet-undetermined cause. Authorities stated that 3 coast guard boats and 3 civilian vessels in the area were immediately directed to the scene. Simultaneously with the evacuation and rescue operations at sea, numerous ambulances and police teams were also dispatched to the shore for emergency response.
