The world's eyes have turned to the US-Iran ceasefire talks in Switzerland. Mediators from Qatar, Pakistan, and Switzerland are also participating in the negotiations that began in the city of Burgenstock. The first statement regarding the peace talks came from US Vice President JD Vance, who is leading the US delegation.
"WE MADE GREAT PROGRESS IN A FEW HOURS"
In his statement, Vance noted that significant progress had been made in recent hours and said that Trump has authorized them to find diplomatic solutions on many issues. Vance stated that their goal is to establish lasting relations and a peace environment in the Middle East through diplomacy. It was reported that US and Iranian negotiators in Switzerland held a trilateral meeting mediated by Qatar.
Vance said, "The opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the termination of Iran's nuclear program are already accomplished things. Now the question is how much more we can achieve together. Can we permanently change relations in the Middle East, or will we revert to old methods? This is not our choice, but it is certainly a possible outcome.
We made great progress in just a few hours in Switzerland. We are working for regional peace."
