Geography teacher Orhan Bulak (43), who killed his religious culture teacher wife Aslıhan Öztürk Bulak (40) and father-in-law Cafer Tayyar Öztürk (74) with a pump-action shotgun after a dispute over a job relocation in Antalya, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures.
KILLED WIFE AND FATHER-IN-LAW IN FRONT OF 3 CHILDREN
The incident occurred yesterday around 10:00 AM on the 1st floor of a 5-story apartment building at 212 Sokak, Memurevleri Mahallesi, Muratpaşa district. Geography teacher Orhan Bulak began arguing with his wife, religious culture teacher Aslıhan Öztürk Bulak, during breakfast, accusing her of arranging a relocation to Bursa, where her father lives, without his knowledge. As the argument escalated, Orhan Bulak grabbed a pump-action shotgun from the house and, in front of their three children aged 2 to 9, first opened fire on his father-in-law Cafer Tayyar Öztürk and then on his wife Aslıhan Öztürk Bulak, who fled to the balcony.
MURDEROUS SPOUSE IN CUSTODY
Teams were dispatched to the address after neighbors who heard the gunshots alerted authorities. Police officers arriving quickly apprehended Orhan Bulak at the apartment entrance. The medical team entering the apartment determined that Cafer Tayyar Öztürk and his daughter Aslıhan Öztürk Bulak had died. After the scene and prosecutor's investigation, the bodies were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy. Orhan Bulak, taken into custody, was brought to the police station.
"I ASKED FOR HALF THE MONEY IN THE JOINT ACCOUNT, MY WIFE REFUSED"
In his statement to the police, Orhan Bulak said, "We had argued before about the relocation issue. She kept asking for a transfer. During breakfast, the same topic came up and we argued. The 1.5 million lira in my wife's account was our joint account. I wanted half of the money to be given to me, but my wife refused. So I told my father-in-law, 'Tell your daughter to give half the money.' When my father-in-law said, 'I won't get involved,' the argument intensified. When my father-in-law came at me, I fired in self-defense."
Orhan Bulak was referred to the courthouse today after his procedures at the police headquarters.
