The forest fire that started in the Seydikemer district of Muğla and spread to the Kaş district of Antalya due to the wind has been brought under control.
IT STARTED IN SEYDIKEMER YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND REACHED KAŞ
The fire that broke out in an agricultural area near the Korubükü neighborhood of the Seydikemer district yesterday afternoon spread to the forested area under the influence of strong winds.
The fire that broke out near Saklıkent Canyon crossed the stream passing through the canyon under the influence of strong northerly winds and spread to the forested area within the borders of the Kaş district of Antalya.
HOUSES WERE DAMAGED
Some houses in the Palamut neighborhood were damaged in the fire.
The flames, growing under the influence of the wind, reached the Çavdır neighborhood. Some houses and greenhouses in the neighborhood, which was evacuated as a precaution, were damaged in the fire.
The fire was brought under control as a result of the intense intervention of the teams from the air and the ground.
Cooling efforts by the teams continue in the region.
STATEMENT FROM THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF FORESTRY
In a post made on the social media platform of the US-based company X by the General Directorate of Forestry, the following statements were included: "We brought the fire, which started in a non-forest area in the Seydikemer district of Muğla and spread to the Kaş district of Antalya, under control as a result of the intense intervention of our teams from the air and the ground. Our cooling efforts continue in the region. We thank all our institutions, local governments, volunteers, and citizens who support our fight against the fire."
