FLIGHTS SUSPENDED DUE TO BALLOONS
Flights at Vilnius Airport, located in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, have been suspended once again. A spokesperson for the National Crisis Management Center stated that flights at the airport were suspended at 19:05 local time due to balloons believed to have come from Belarus, and it was expressed that flights are planned to resume at 20:05.
IT WAS ALSO SUSPENDED ON DECEMBER 3
Flights at the airport, located about 30 kilometers from the Belarus border, have been suspended more than 10 times since October 2025 due to similar incidents. The flights at the airport were last suspended on December 3. Lithuania has claimed that the disruptions in flights were caused by hot air balloons carrying smuggled cigarettes from neighboring Belarus, accusing Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko of allowing this practice and describing it as a "hybrid attack."
