After years of legal proceedings, footage has been shared of crime syndicate leader Serkan Kurtulus being brought back to Turkey following his extradition. The suspect, handcuffed and escorted off the plane by special teams, was transferred to the Istanbul Police Department under extensive security measures.
Serkan Kurtuluş, the leader of an organized crime ring whose extradition from Argentina was secured, was brought to Türkiye through a special operation carried out by security forces. Footage of the gang leader, who was wanted with a red notice, being taken off the plane at Istanbul Airport and handed over to security units was shared with the public.
MOMENTS OF BEING TAKEN OFF THE PLANE ON CAMERA
The first images of Serkan Kurtuluş, who was brought to Türkiye through an operation conducted under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior and the Interpol-Europol Department of the General Directorate of Security, have emerged. Kurtuluş, escorted by a special police team and handcuffed, was taken off the plane and placed into a police vehicle waiting on the tarmac under extensive security measures. The gang leader, taken into custody by the Istanbul Organized Crime Branch Directorate and Interpol teams, was taken to the Police Department to complete the necessary procedures.
BOMB LIE ALSO FAILED TO PREVENT EXTRADITION
It was learned that Kurtuluş, who tried every means from seeking asylum to going on a hunger strike in Argentina to halt the extradition process that lasted about 6 years, continued his provocations during his transfer.
The suspect, who shouted "There is a bomb on the plane" in Spanish during a stopover in Brazil and tried to get the plane evacuated, had this move thwarted by the intervention of the Turkish Interpol delegation.
WILL BE TRIED FOR NUMEROUS CRIMES
Serkan Kurtuluş, wanted with a red notice for serious charges including murder, establishing a criminal organization, armed robbery, and threats, will be referred to judicial authorities after his questioning at the police department.
