The new assignment distribution in the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command was published in the Official Gazette. With the decrees signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, many generals and colonels were promoted to the next rank, while the gendarmerie commanders changed in provinces including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Erzurum, and Diyarbakir. In the Coast Guard Command, senior rank and duty changes were made.

With the presidential decrees signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, significant promotions and duty changes were made in the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command. While 7 generals and 18 colonels in the Gendarmerie General Command were promoted to the next rank, gendarmerie commanders in many provinces including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Erzurum and Diyarbakir were changed.

25 NAMES PROMOTED IN THE GENDARMERIE 

Effective as of August 30, 2026, 7 generals and 18 colonels serving within the Gendarmerie General Command were promoted to the next rank.

Major Generals Unsal Bulut and Murat Bulut were promoted to Lieutenant General, while Brigadier Generals Huseyin Bekmez, Hamdi Gulpnar, Omer Ersever, Ferruh Taraktas and Mustafa Bakcepnar became Major Generals.

Celal Kursad Konukcu, Senol Senoglu, Isa Karahasanoglu, Cezmi Yalinkilic, Sadik Gulecen, Mesut Karabulut, Sadi Akman, Engin Ozkul, Mustafa Tetik, Hakan Ugurlu, Ozer Kucukuysal, Volkan Guner Gungor, Ismail Terzi, Halil Coskun, Ugur Arslan, Tansu Utku, Muhammed Sever and Mustafa Sasmaz were promoted to Brigadier General.

COMMANDERS CHANGED IN ISTANBUL, ANKARA AND IZMIR 

With the decree, duty changes were also made in important provincial gendarmerie commands.

Accordingly;

Major General Idris Tataroglu was appointed to the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command,

Major General Tarik Hekimoglu was appointed to the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command,

Major General Halil Sen was appointed to the Izmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command,

Major General Cengiz Yildiz was appointed to the Erzurum Provincial Gendarmerie Command,

Major General Ali Gemalmaz was appointed to the Diyarbakir Provincial Gendarmerie Command.

Lieutenant General Yusuf Kenan Topcu was assigned to the Van Gendarmerie Public Order Corps Command.

On the other hand, some senior commanders, including General Huseyin Kurtoglu and Lieutenant General Munir Guzel, were assigned to the Gendarmerie General Command.

SENIOR LEVEL CHANGE IN THE COAST GUARD

Rank and duty changes were also carried out in the Coast Guard Command.

Rear Admiral Cengiz Fitoz was promoted to Vice Admiral, and Colonel Onder Goksel was promoted to Rear Admiral.

Vice Admiral Cengiz Fitoz was assigned to the position of Deputy Coast Guard Commander (Adaptation), while Rear Admiral Gokmen Guciuyen was appointed to the Coast Guard Black Sea Regional Command and Rear Admiral Alpaslan Baysal was appointed to the Coast Guard Mediterranean Regional Command.

Rear Admiral Onder Goksel was assigned as the Operations Chief of the Coast Guard Command.

With the decrees, a new duty distribution was established in the senior management of the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Commands, and it was stated that the promotion decisions would be effective as of August 30, 2026.
