During the operations carried out by the municipal police teams in Hatay, it was determined that a foreign national beggar collected 3,000 TL in half a day. The suspect was fined administratively, and citizens were warned not to give money to such individuals.
The Hatay Metropolitan Municipality conducted strict inspections to ensure security and peace throughout the province, to control beggars, and to prevent illegal activities. In the operations, it was determined that a foreign beggar collected 3,000 TL in half a day.
EXPLOITING RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL FEELINGS
The Municipal Police Department identified and applied necessary sanctions to beggars, mostly foreigners who exploited the religious and spiritual feelings of citizens who had lost their loved ones, especially after the earthquakes on February 6. In the inspections, it was determined that beggars collected large amounts of money and administrative fines were imposed.
Officials stated that beggars tried to make easy money by exploiting the religious feelings of the people after the earthquake disaster and shared the information that some beggars collected significant amounts of money, around 3,000 TL, in less than half a day.
"DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO SUCH INDIVIDUALS"
Officials emphasized that the public should not give money to such individuals and stated that public awareness should be raised to prevent these groups who turn begging into a profession. They also mentioned that a determined struggle will continue against individuals who exploit emotions.
