Suat Dülger, the former provincial chair of the CHP in Erzurum, who was arrested in an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into allegations of interference with delegates' voting will at the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, criticized Özgür Özel's administration, saying, 'No one even called my family to say 'get well soon,' let alone visit me.'

Suat Dülger, the former provincial chairman of CHP in Erzurum who was arrested in the investigation regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, made a reproachful statement towards the administration of Özgür Özel.

“NOT EVEN A SINGLE ‘GET WELL SOON’ PHONE CALL WAS MADE TO MY FAMILY, LET ALONE A VISIT TO ME”

Reminding that he was one of the figures who supported the ‘change’ movement initiated by Özgür Özel and his team during the congress process, Dülger, in a message sent from prison, accused the current Central Executive Board (MYK), Party Assembly (PM), and members of parliament of ingratitude.

Not hiding his resentment towards the party administration, Dülger said, “Although I have many friends among the CHP change MYK, PM, and MPs, for whose support I was imprisoned, not even a single ‘get well soon’ phone call was made to my family, let alone a visit to me.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations of interference with delegates' voting will at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, 9 of the 13 suspects taken into custody, including Suat Dülger, were arrested on May 23. Judicial control measures were imposed on 4 suspects.

In the prosecutor's referral document, it was stated that the suspects held titles such as “delegate” and “district chairman” during the 38th congress period of the CHP. According to statements in the file, it was noted that there was strong suspicion of crime based on concrete evidence that the suspects determined their voting preferences at the congress according to the benefits they obtained, including findings that some received tenders from the municipality, some had relatives placed in jobs at municipalities, and some were given cash payments, thus committing the crime of “violation of the Political Parties Law.”
