In a drug investigation, former Habertürk executive Veyis Ateş and influencer Taner Çağlı were referred to court with a request for arrest. The court ruled for the arrest of both individuals.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an examination is ongoing regarding the charges of 'purchasing drugs or stimulants for use', 'accepting or possessing', and 'using drugs or stimulants, providing a place and means for their use' in the case where Mehmet Akif Ersoy was previously arrested.
REQUEST FOR ARREST OF VEYİS ATEŞ AND TANER ÇAĞLI
In this context, during an operation organized by the Narcotic Crimes Combat teams of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, former Habertürk General Manager Veyis Ateş, social media celebrity Taner Çağlı, and businessman Mustafa Karataş were detained.
It was learned that Veyis Ateş was detained at his home, while Taner Çağlı was detained at the airport while attempting to travel to Vienna. The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the Gendarmerie Command, were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse today.
As part of the drug investigation targeting the media, Veyis Ateş and Taner Çağlı, who were detained on Saturday and transferred to the courthouse today, were referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for arrest; while Mustafa Karataş was referred with a request for judicial control.
DECISION MADE
The court, which made a decision in line with the request, ruled for the arrest of Ateş and Çağlı, and for Karataş to be released under judicial control.
