In the framework law vote accepted in the TBMM General Assembly with 467 yes votes, 87 no votes, and 7 abstentions, a striking result emerged among independent deputies. While 7 of the 10 independent deputies voted in favor, only Ankara Deputy Koray Aydın, who resigned from the İYİ Party in 2024, voted "no" to the regulation. The other 2 independent deputies did not participate in the vote.
The bill prepared within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, known publicly as the "framework law" and titled the 'Proposal for the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion,' was accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly.
ENACTED WITH 467 YES VOTES
In the electronic vote, a total of 563 votes were cast, and after the electronic voting, duplicate votes were removed upon checking the ballots. Thus, the proposal was accepted with 467 yes, 87 no, and 7 abstention votes.
9 MPs FROM AK PARTY AND 2 FROM MHP DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Meanwhile, the open vote results of the 'framework law' accepted in TBMM were also announced. While 268 deputies from the AK Party voted 'yes,' 9 deputies did not participate in the vote. These names included AK Party Ankara Deputy Yıldırım Tuğrul Türkeş, Ankara Deputy Kürşad Zorlu, Istanbul Deputy İsmail Emrah Karayel, Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Ersagun Yücel, Kocaeli Deputy Sami Çakır, Konya Deputy Tahir Akyürek, Malatya Deputy Bülent Tüfenkci, and Sakarya Deputy Lütfi Bayraktar.
Meanwhile, TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş also did not participate in the vote due to his position.
In MHP, 44 yes votes were cast, while 2 deputies did not participate in the vote. Deputy Speaker of TBMM Celan Adan, who presided over the session in the General Assembly, and Istanbul Deputy İzzet Ulvi Yönter were among those who did not participate.
Among the parties fully supporting the law, DEM Party cast 55 yes votes, while 1 deputy did not participate in the vote. It was learned that the deputy who did not participate was DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Çiçek Otlu, who is undergoing treatment due to a health issue.
AMONG 10 INDEPENDENT DEPUTIES, ONLY KORAY AYDIN VOTED "NO"
Among independent deputies, 7 yes and 1 no vote were cast, while 2 deputies did not participate in the vote. It was learned that the person who voted no was Ankara Deputy Koray Aydın, who resigned from the İYİ Party.
THE BIGGEST SPLIT WAS IN THE NEW PARTY
The biggest split occurred in the New Party, whose Chairman Özgür Özel announced he would vote 'yes.' Of the 91 deputies, 35 voted yes, 54 voted no, and 2 deputies did not participate.
In CHP, 29 yes and 2 no votes were cast, and 14 deputies did not participate. In the İYİ Party, the only party that opposed the process from the beginning, 29 no votes were cast.
In the New Path Party, 16 yes and 3 abstention votes were cast, while 1 deputy did not participate. Hüda Par cast 4 yes votes, while the New Welfare Party cast 4 abstention votes. The Workers' Party of Turkey cast 3 yes votes, the Democratic Regions Party 2, and the Labor Party 2. The Democrat Party cast 1 no vote, the Democratic Left Party 1 yes, and the Felicity Party 1 yes.
