The historic regulation adopted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly was enacted with 467 votes in favor, 87 against, and 3 abstentions, with 31 deputies not participating in the vote. The voting was marked by a rift in the NEW Party with 54 'no' votes, the full-fledged 'no' decision of the İYİ Party, and a second 'no' vote that emerged within the CHP.
The regulation forming the legal framework of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process was accepted and became law in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly, and after the vote, attention turned to the distribution of votes among the parties. According to the definitive results of the open vote, the law passed from Parliament with 467 votes in favor, 87 against, and 7 abstentions.
FREE VOTE CRACK IN THE NEW PARTY: 54 NO VOTES
The most apparent vote split in the voting occurred within the New Party group. After the New Party Chairman Ozgur Ozel announced, along with party executives, that they would vote "yes" but left members of parliament free in their choice, a striking picture emerged from the ballot box. With the group decision left free, 54 no votes were cast against 35 yes votes from the New Party.
THE SECOND PERSON VOTING NO IN CHP IS A MATTER OF CURIOSITY
In the CHP group, the vote distribution was 29 yes and 2 no. Apart from Istanbul Deputy Ilhan Kesici, who openly declared he would vote "no" before the vote, it became a matter of curiosity who the other no vote belonged to.
Despite Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu's message of "unhesitating support", it was noteworthy that 14 CHP deputies did not participate in the vote.
IYI PARTY DID NOT DEFECT
The IYI Party, which had been fiercely opposing the regulation from the start, acted as a full bloc in the vote. All 29 deputies in the Party Group voted no, and no yes votes came from the party. There were no deputies from the IYI Party who did not participate in the vote.
Additionally, 1 independent deputy and 1 Democrat Party deputy also voted no in the vote.
As a result of the vote, in which 31 deputies did not participate, the figures were recorded as 467 yes, 87 no, and 3 abstentions.
