Fuat Oktay, Chair of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, stated that the resolution adopted by the European Parliament, which contains baseless allegations against the Turkish Armed Forces, is null and void. Oktay also criticized Israel's aggressive policies in the region while emphasizing Turkey's support for peace efforts. The Turkey-Syria health agreement was also approved in the committee.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee convened under the chairmanship of AK Party Ankara Deputy Fuat Oktay to discuss international agreement proposals.

Speaking at the opening of the committee meeting, Oktay stated that the unity and solidarity of the Alliance were strongly confirmed at the NATO Summit hosted by Turkey, and that Turkey's defense industry capacity came to the forefront on the sidelines of the summit. Noting that conflicts have resumed despite the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran, Oktay said, "While the conflicts threaten the peace and stability of the entire Middle East region, they also pose significant risks for global markets by affecting supply chains, especially oil. The tension-oriented attitudes of Israel and the pro-war factions in the US and Iran in the region should not be allowed to steer regional policies and violence-oriented policies. We call on the parties to act with restraint and hope for the restoration of peace in the region. On the other hand, the Russia-Ukraine war in the north of our country continues unfortunately with full intensity. As Turkey, we continue to support all diplomatic efforts to achieve peace. We see that Israel's discriminatory, aggressive, and occupationist policies continue in our region. We also witness that Israel has carried out new attacks on Syria while its occupation of Lebanon continues. The humanitarian tragedy caused by Israel in Gaza, along with its attacks and occupation actions in Jerusalem and the West Bank, are still ongoing," he said.

"THE EP'S DECISION AGAINST THE TSK IS NULL AND VOID"

Oktay said, "As the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation approaches, I want to reiterate that the decision adopted by the European Parliament containing baseless and irrational allegations against the heroic Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is null and void from our perspective. If they want to understand who the perpetrators of these allegations are, they just need to look in the mirror."

"JULY 15 IS THE DAY WHEN THE TURKISH NATION SHOWED ITS DETERMINATION TO CHAMPION NATIONAL WILL TO THE WORLD"

Emphasizing that the European Parliament makes wrong decisions under the influence of circles hostile to Turkey, Oktay stated, "As the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation approaches, I want to reiterate that the decision adopted by the European Parliament containing baseless and irrational allegations against the heroic Turkish Armed Forces is null and void from our perspective. If they want to understand who the perpetrators of these allegations are, they just need to look in the mirror. Yesterday, we commemorated July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. July 15 is a historic day when the Turkish nation showed its determination to champion democracy, independence, and national will to the entire world. The treacherous FETÖ coup attempt was repelled, and the attempt to invade Turkey was prevented through a great resistance symbolizing the unity and solidarity of our nation. This resistance crushed the treacherous FETÖ attempt in the heart of our nation. As the Turkish Grand National Assembly and our Committee, we continue our work with this understanding of unity and solidarity, and we will continue to do so," he said.

Oktay also stated that there are currently 24 more proposals in the committee, and since the beginning of the 28th Legislative Term, 73 proposals have been adopted, while the number of proposals on the General Assembly agenda is 117.

"OUR COUNTRY STRONGLY SUPPORTS THE PRINCIPLE OF MULTILATERALISM REPRESENTED BY THE UN"

Afterward, discussions began on the proposal that includes various agreements, including Turkey's United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Musa Kulaklıkaya said, "Our country strongly supports and defends the values and the principle of multilateralism represented by the United Nations, which is at the heart of the global rules-based system. The fact that nearly every UN institution operates in our country and that our country is increasingly preferred as a hub is a clear reflection of our multidimensional and strong cooperation with the United Nations. The most concrete and current example of this cooperation is our hosting of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, known as COP31. COP, or the Conference of the Parties, is the highest decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The parties, i.e., the member countries, address important and multidimensional topics in combating climate change here, such as mitigation, adaptation, climate finance, technology transfer, and loss and damage," he said.

Kulaklıkaya added that no financial commitment has been made for hosting the COP-31 summit, but the expenses related to the conference will be covered by Turkey.

INTERNATIONAL HEALTH AGREEMENT BETWEEN TURKEY AND SYRIA ADOPTED

Following the adoption of the first proposal, discussions moved to the second international agreement proposal regarding the operation of the Damascus Heart Hospital and Aleppo Oncology Hospital between Turkey and Syria. On the proposal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Musa Kulaklıkaya stated, "We have determined that the path to normalizing life in Syria lies in the provision of basic public services. Health, among other sectors, is an important area that stands out in our support for Syria. At the core of this support is essentially ensuring Syria's own health system is sustainable, achieving sufficiency in terms of infrastructure, personnel, and equipment, and enabling young Syrians educated in our country to contribute to the reconstruction process in their homeland. The uninterrupted and smooth provision of health services in Syria within a national program is important in many respects. First, maintaining the trust established by the Syrian government with its people, and also ensuring that people returning from our country to Syria can settle there and make returns sustainable. Finally, it is critically important to have a functioning health sector in Syria to meet treatment needs that cannot be provided in the Syrian field locally, thus preventing treatment demands from being directed to our country, and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases," he evaluated.

Afterward, representatives of political parties spoke about the agreement, and a vote was taken. As a result of the vote, the proposal was adopted.
