German wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON has decided to establish a rotor blade production facility in Bergama, Izmir, with an investment of 50 million euros. The new factory aims to provide direct employment for approximately 700 people, with production planned to supply not only Turkey but also the European market.

German wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON is moving the rotor blade production for its next-generation wind turbine model "E-175 EP5 E2" to Turkey.

THEY WILL INVEST 50 MILLION EUROS

As part of its international growth strategy, the company will establish a new rotor blade production facility in the Bergama district of Izmir with an investment of 50 million euros.

700 PEOPLE WILL BE EMPLOYED

With the investment, the facility aims to provide direct employment for approximately 700 people, while also contributing to indirect employment through supplier companies in the region.

The facility to be established in Izmir is planned to have an annual production capacity of 150 rotor blade sets, in 3 sets per year, during the initial phase. The factory is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year. While production is primarily envisaged for the Turkish market, the facility is also intended to supply projects in Eastern and Southern Europe in the future.

"WE DETERMINEDLY CONTINUE OUR LOCALIZATION STRATEGY IN TURKEY"

Speaking at the Wind Turbine Blade Factory Press Launch as part of the 15th Turkish Wind Energy Congress (TÜREK), ENERCON Chief Operating Officer and Board Member (COO) Heiko Juritz stated that the new production facility in Bergama will meet the local content criteria applicable in onshore wind energy tenders in Turkey.

Juritz noted that these supports will increase competitiveness in projects and said, "The factory will also make a significant contribution to Turkey's renewable energy ecosystem. We are one of the pioneering companies that has been investing in Turkey for many years. We are determinedly continuing our localization strategy in Turkey, where we have been operating for more than 30 years. With our new facility in Bergama, where we have invested 50 million euros, we will offer our customers a strong, sustainable, and locally-based solution infrastructure. We aim to increase employment to over 1,000 people."

Juritz emphasized that Turkey continues to be one of the most important strategic markets for ENERCON, stating, "The production of E-175 EP5 E2 components, our latest and newest technology, in Turkey, is a strong indicator of our trust in the country and our long-term perspective. We will continue to stand by our customers in all processes from production to sales, and from installation to service, and contribute to Turkey's energy transition."

ONSHORE CAPACITY IN TURKEY REACHES 4 GIGAWATTS

ENERCON's new flagship model, the E-175 EP5 E2, with an installed capacity of 7 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 175 meters, ranks among Europe's most efficient onshore wind turbines.

The model, which plays a critical role in the company's global growth strategy, is generating strong interest both in the international market and in Turkey. ENERCON recently signed new supply agreements with Turkish customers covering a total capacity of over 370 megawatts.

ENERCON's total installed capacity in Turkey to date has reached 4 gigawatts. The company continues to operate in Turkey with its own organizational structure in sales, project management, and service areas.
