The Central Bank raised its year-end inflation forecast to 26 percent. Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan stated, "War and uncertainty increased the forecast," while the first Inflation Report of the year, released in February, had the 2026 expectation in the 15-21 percent range.
Fatih Karahan, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, announced the second inflation report of the year along with weekly monetary and banking statistics.
INFLATION FORECAST FOR END OF 2027 AT 15 PERCENT
Karahan said, "We have raised our 2026 interim target to 24 percent, our 2027 interim target to 15 percent, and our 2028 interim target to 9 percent. We estimate inflation will be 26 percent at the end of 2026 and 15 percent at the end of 2027. We project that inflation will stabilize at the medium-term target of 5 percent after declining to 9 percent by the end of 2028."
