Nilhan Osmanoglu, the granddaughter of Abdul Hamid II, decided to close the cafe and shop named "Nilhan Sultan Mansion" she operated in Istanbul's Pashalimani due to rising rental costs. Osmanoglu stated that it is not possible to continue the business because of the million-dollar rent fees.
It has been revealed that Nilhan Osmanoğlu, the 5th generation granddaughter of Abdul Hamid II, has closed the cafe and shop named "Nilhan Sultan Mansion" she operated in Istanbul's Paşalimanı. Osmanoğlu announced that they decided to vacate the business due to rising rental costs.
SHE HAD RENTED IT FROM A FORMER CHP MP
It was learned that Nilhan Osmanoğlu had been operating the mansion she rented from Şinasi Öktem, who served as a CHP MP between 2007 and 2011, as a cafe and shop for a long time. It was stated that the "Nilhan Sultan Mansion" operating in Paşalimanı was closed as of May 13, 2026.
"MILLION-DOLLAR RENTS LED TO THIS DECISION"
In a statement on her social media account, Osmanoğlu announced that they decided to close the business due to the rapid increase in rental fees. In her statement, Osmanoğlu noted that they completed their 10th year in the restaurant sector and 8th year in Paşalimanı, using the following words: "As of today, while completing our tenth year in the restaurant sector and our eighth year in Paşalimanı, we are unfortunately at a crossroads brought about by changing conditions. The rental fees, which increase unpredictably every day and will reach million-dollar bands within a year or two, have led us to make this decision.
"TO COVER THESE ASTRONOMICAL COSTS..."
In the hospitality etiquette we believe in, offering menus with exorbitant prices in front of you just to cover these astronomical costs and rents is not acceptable.
"WE HAVE TERMINATED OUR OPERATION"
We can never bring ourselves to compromise on quality and fairness just to keep the wheels turning. In line with these principles, we wish to announce that we have terminated our Nilhan Sultan Mansion Paşalimanı operation as of today."
