A 42% increase has been applied to the fee for the gate visa to the Greek islands, and in the 2025 season, the visa fee for adults has become 85 Euros. In the new period, the number of islands that can be visited with the gate visa has been increased from 10 to 12.
The gate visa application for the Greek islands, which Turkish citizens show great interest in, started the 2025 season with an important change. Last year, the gate visa fee was 60 Euros, which has increased by 42% to 85 Euros (approximately 3700 TL). With the new regulation, a special rate will also be applied for children aged 0-18, and 20 Euros (870 TL) will be charged for visitors in this age group.
THE NUMBER OF ISLANDS THAT CAN BE VISITED WITH A GATE VISA HAS INCREASED
Despite the increase in the visa fee, the number of Greek islands that can be visited with a gate visa has also been increased. While there were 10 islands included in the visa application in previous years, this year, with the addition of the islands of Patmos and Samothrace, the number has been raised to 12. In the 2025 season, this application will now also be valid for Patmos and Samothrace, in addition to Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Lesbos, Chios, Leros, Symi, Limnos, Kalymnos, and Meis.
2.3 MILLION PEOPLE TRAFFIC, OVER 1 MILLION VISITORS
According to data from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, a total of 17,288 trips were organized from various ports in Turkey to the Greek islands throughout 2024. A total of 2.3 million people were transported reciprocally on these trips. With trips departing only from Turkey, 1 million 150 thousand passengers visited the Greek islands. August 2024 reached a record level with 296,980 passengers; it was followed by July with 236 thousand and September with 208 thousand visitors.
FAVORITE OF TURKISH TOURISTS: KOS, RHODES, AND CHIOS
In the 2024 season, the most preferred Greek island was Kos. A total of 340,303 passengers traveled to Kos from Bodrum, and 2,493 passengers from Kuşadası. Rhodes Island ranked second; 2,015 passengers preferred Rhodes from Bodrum, 184,665 from Marmaris, and 48,409 from Fethiye. Chios Island, which ranked third, particularly stood out in trips departing from Çeşme: 195,618 people traveled to Chios.
