A new bill was submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to expand the scope of the special-stamped passport publicly known as the green passport. YENİ Party Bursa MP Kayıhan Pala proposed granting green passports to physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists who have completed 15 years in their profession.
A new one has been added to the proposals on the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) aimed at increasing the professional groups benefiting from the right to the special-stamped passport, commonly referred to by the public as the "green passport". YENİ Party Bursa MP Kayıhan Pala submitted to the Presidency of the TBMM a bill containing special conditions for physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists.
Sharing the details of the proposal with the public through his social media account, Pala stated, "We have submitted our bill for physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists to be granted a green passport if they have served fifteen years in the profession."
A PROPOSAL HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN SUBMITTED FOR 6 OCCUPATIONAL GROUPS
This was not the only step aimed at expanding the scope of the green passport. Another proposal submitted to the Presidency of the TBMM by YENİ Party Gaziantep MP Melih Meriç in recent weeks and referred to the Interior Committee as of October 1 also maintains its place on the Parliament's agenda.
If the proposal in question becomes law, it is envisaged that the following professionals who meet the conditions will also be able to benefit from the right to a green passport:
- Village and neighborhood mukhtars,
- Sworn-in certified public accountants registered with TÜRMOB and its affiliated chambers,
- Independent accountant financial advisors with at least 15 years of seniority,
- Independent pharmacists who are members of the Turkish Pharmacists' Association (TEB) and have completed 15 years in the profession,
- Self-employed doctors who are members of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) and have completed 15 years in the profession,
- Engineers and architects affiliated with the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) who have passed 15 years in the profession.
