After the suspension of CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee in his place, has been expelled from the CHP. Speaking for the first time after the expulsion decision, Tekin stated, "We will continue our struggle to cleanse our party from dishonorable individuals and suspicions. You cannot silence us with expulsion decisions. History will remember us, who stand tall against these decisions."

The lawsuit filed at the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance for the annulment of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress resulted in a provisional decision on September 2, where the court dismissed Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his administration, appointing Gürsel Tekin and his team as trustees. In today's hearing, the court rejected the objection to the provisional removal of CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik. Thus, Gürsel Tekin and the trustee committee will continue their duties.
GÜRSEL TEKİN EXPELLED FROM CHP
Following the court's decision to remove CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his administration from office, Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee, along with Savaş Aras, Erkan Narsap, Zeki Şen, Levent Çelik, and Barış Yarkadaş, was expelled from CHP.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM GÜRSEL TEKİN
The first statement came from Gürsel Tekin, who was expelled from CHP. In a post on his social media account, Tekin stated: "As a soldier of the Republican People's Party, I was expelled from the party I dedicated my life to by a decision made by those who represent their personal interests rather than the party, who are involved in crime. This decision cannot tarnish our honor."
"IT IS NOT US THEY EXPELLED, BUT THEIR CONSCIENCES"
We are the veterans of this party. We have dedicated our years, our sweat, and our struggle to this party. The decisions made by those who try to maintain their own order by disregarding the efforts of thousands of comrades walking the same path as us cannot cast a shadow on the history of CHP.
Those who expelled us today should know that it is not us they expelled; it is their own consciences and the honorable past of the party that they have expelled. You cannot erase our existence. Because we are the conscience of CHP, we are its roots, we are its memory.
"WE WILL CONTINUE OUR STRUGGLE TO CLEAN OUR PARTY FROM DISHONEST PEOPLE"
I say this clearly: When you leave this party, when you cleanse this party of suspicions and personal ambitions, the Republican People's Party will grow even more. Because CHP is the party of millions who follow in the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal, not of those whose seats are protected by the expulsion of a few individuals.
We will continue our struggle to cleanse our party from dishonest people, suspicions, and dirty systems. You cannot silence us with expulsion decisions. History will not write these unjust decisions made today, but it will write about us standing tall against these decisions."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On October 8, 2023, during the CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress, where Özgür Çelik was elected as Provincial Chairman, a lawsuit was filed by CHP Istanbul Delegate Özlem Erkan on August 14 at the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance, claiming 'disruption of will' and 'criminal actions' and requesting the annulment of the congress. In its provisional decision on September 2, the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance decided to 'provisionally remove' Özgür Çelik, who was elected as Provincial Chairman, and the Provincial Board of Directors and the Provincial Disciplinary Board elected at the same congress.
In the same provisional decision, it was decided to appoint Gürsel Tekin along with 5 others to use the powers of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman, Provincial Board of Directors, and Provincial Disciplinary Board as a temporary committee. The objections made by CHP regarding the precautionary measures contained in the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance's provisional decisions dated September 2, 2025, were evaluated. The court ruled that all objections regarding CHP's 'Precautionary measure' decision should be seen in a hearing.
