In a primary school located in the Meltem neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, the old desks and tables used by first-grade students have sparked controversy.
PARENTS WERE ASKED FOR 2,250 TL
Following complaints from parents, the school administration stated that the renewal of the desks and tables could be done based on the parents' request. In response, the class representative created a messaging group for parents, announcing that new desks and tables could be purchased for a fee of 2,250 TL per person.
POLL CRISIS
After the message, a poll was opened in the group. Out of the parents who participated in the poll, 23 voted "no," while only 7 voted "yes." Parents expressed their reaction by stating that the school's fixed assets should be covered by the government.
RESPONSE: "FIXED ASSETS DO NOT CONCERN PARENTS"
Many parents emphasized that the renewal of the desks and tables used by students was not their responsibility, stating that the requested amount was unacceptable.
