The world-renowned car giant BMW has taken action regarding vehicles that catch fire while stationary. The company has recalled over 196,000 cars and instructed dealers on how to resolve the issue.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified a corrosion-related issue in BMW's engine start relay. It was announced that this situation could lead to a short circuit and overheating, increasing the risk of fire in vehicles.

According to the official announcement, the issue poses a safety hazard both while the vehicle is in motion and when it is parked. NHTSA announced that more than 196 thousand BMW vehicles are affected by this risk.
COVERS MANY POPULAR MODELS
The recall program includes many popular models, including the 2022 BMW 230i. Additionally, the Toyota Supra, produced by BMW in Austria and sold under the Toyota brand, is among the affected vehicles.
BMW announced that free relay replacements will be provided to vehicle owners through authorized service centers. The company will inform drivers about the recall process through postal and digital notifications.
