Kilis Mayor Hakan Bilecen resigned from the Republican People's Party. In his statement, Bilecen stated that he would continue his path independently.

Following the court's decision of "absolute nullity," a noteworthy development occurred in the CHP, where the crisis between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel continues. 

Kilis Mayor Hakan Bilecen announced his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP). Mayor Hakan Bilecen stated that after his resignation, which is considered a significant development in local governance, he will continue his mayoral duties as an independent. 

PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN ALSO RESIGNED

In recent days, CHP Provincial Chairman Umut Mehmet Sapan also announced his resignation from his post in Kilis.

HE HAD OUTPACED HIS RIVAL IN LOCAL ELECTIONS

In the March 31, 2024 local elections, Hakan Bilecen received 41.97% of the votes from the people of Kilis. Bilecen's closest rival, AK Party candidate Reşit Polat, remained at 27.27%.

WHO IS HAKAN BILECEN?

Hakan Bilecen was born in Kilis in 1987. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kilis and his higher education in Ankara, specializing in criminal law. Lawyer Bilecen, who has been involved in various non-governmental organizations, served as a board member for the Kilis Bar Association for 5 years. 

Hakan Bilecen also previously served as the CHP Kilis Central District Chairman.
