Hasan Ufuk Çakır, the Mersin Deputy who resigned from the CHP, announced on Wednesday, January 7, that he would join the AK Party during a group meeting. Stating that he preferred the AK Party because it is "on the side of its state and nation," Çakır mentioned that he consulted citizens about his decision and said, "The nation said to switch to the AK Party, and I am doing what the nation said."

After participating in the ceremonies for the anniversary of Mersin's liberation from enemy occupation on January 3, Deputy Hasan Ufuk Çakır, who resigned from the CHP, visited the Mersin Yörükler Association in the Mediterranean district. Meeting with Association President Hidayet Dinçer and its members, Çakır made a statement to IHA reporters after the visit. Responding to rumors about switching to the AK Party, Çakır said, "On Wednesday, January 7, I will switch to the AK Party during the group meeting. Everything has been discussed. We will serve my homeland and my nation. We will not hand over the homeland and the nation to thieves and robbers. Malicious people will stay away from politics. As a nation, we will stand against this."
"AK PARTY IS ALONGSIDE ITS STATE AND NATION"
Çakır also mentioned the reasons for his preference for the AK Party, stating, "No one has done what the AK Party has done for Turkey. The AK Party is alongside its state and its nation." Emphasizing that the AK Party has brought many services like super national highways, Çakır explained that it has fulfilled everything for the unity, brotherhood, and peace of the nation.

Çakır, who stated that he consulted citizens before making the decision to switch to the AK Party, said, "I also asked the people, 'Where should I go?' They said, 'Go to the AK Party.' I am doing what the people said after all. I am doing this because the nation wanted it this way," he concluded.
