The Ministry of National Education will provide a 'development report' at the end of the second term for 5th and 6th grade middle school students, as well as 9th and 10th grade high school preparation class students, through a new application. According to the official letter sent to 81 provinces by the ministry, these reports will help track students' progress in their learning process.

The official letter signed by Deputy Minister of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci was sent with 81. The letter stated that the updated curricula within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model are shaped on a skills-based structure, which includes many components such as field skills, conceptual skills, and social-emotional learning skills.

The letter emphasized that the implementation of these components in the learning-teaching processes, determining the extent to which students acquire them, and presenting this process to students and parents with concrete data is of great importance for the functional application of the curricula. It was highlighted that through development reports, parents can regularly track their child's learning process and identify areas that need to be supported based on the student's strengths in a healthier way.

PROGRESS IN THE LEARNING PROCESS WILL BE MONITORED

The letter underscored that this situation strengthens the school-parent collaboration, ensuring that the student's development is supported holistically, not limited to the school environment. In this regard, it was reminded that starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, skill acquisition/development reports will be gradually provided in preschool education institutions, and development reports will be issued starting from the first grade of primary school. The letter reported that the process of monitoring and evaluating students' subject-specific skill development continues at the primary school 1st and 2nd grade levels.

WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AT THE END OF THE SECOND TERM

The letter indicated that in the first semester of this academic year, "report cards" will continue to be issued to middle school 5th and 6th grades and high school preparatory class, 9th and 10th grade students. Due to the skills-based structure of the Turkey Century Education Model curricula, it was requested that all components of the courses be evaluated, students be monitored throughout the year with a holistic understanding, and the processing times of the units/themes/learning areas included in the curricula be taken into account, with teachers entering this information into the system on dates determined by the general directorates, and a "development report" to be issued along with the report card at the end of the second term.
