There was a quiet and significant increase of 1 lira and 8 kuruş in diesel fuel at midnight. After the price increase reflected at the pump, the price of diesel reached 54 lira and 80 kuruş in Istanbul. Diesel is sold for 56 lira and 10 kuruş in Izmir, and 55 lira and 90 kuruş in Ankara.
HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?
Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations depending on companies and cities due to competition and freedom.
EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES
After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that explains price changes, the union announced that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process is concluded.
