Years later, 75-year-old Kalbiye Sağlam learned that her real biological father was Niyazi Üzmez, a well-known businessman from Turgutlu, and initiated a legal battle. Through lawyer Varol Turbay, known for his success in paternity cases, she applied to the Turgutlu Family Court.
DNA REVEALED THE TRUTH
Businessman Niyazi Üzmez passed away in 2022 at the age of 88 while the lawsuit was ongoing. By court order, DNA samples were taken from Üzmez's body while it was still in the morgue. To fully clarify the truth, the grave of mother Ümit Etyüzen was also opened (through an exhumation process) to collect samples.
Following detailed examinations at the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute, the awaited report reached the court. According to DNA test results, it was officially confirmed with 99.9% certainty that Niyazi Üzmez is the biological father of Kalbiye Sağlam.
BECAME THE 4TH HEIR TO A 1 BILLION LIRA FORTUNE
A verdict was reached in the final hearing of the case heard at the Turgutlu 2nd Family Court. The court ruled that Kalbiye Sağlam be registered under the late businessman Niyazi Üzmez's family registry. With this decision, Kalbiye Sağlam officially took the surname 'Üzmez' and became the businessman's 4th child, thus becoming one of the legal co-owners of a vast fortune worth approximately 1 billion lira, including 2 large brick factories and 30 valuable properties.
