An incident on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge road in Istanbul caused panic in traffic. According to claims, a person who introduced himself as an undercover police officer blocked the path of several moving vehicles and started arguing with the drivers. The verbal tension between the parties quickly escalated.
"HE CALLED ME GAY, CALLED ME QUEER"
During the argument, one of the drivers questioned whether the person was really a police officer, reacting with the words, "If you're a cop, show your ID. He called me gay, called me queer." At that moment, the parties were seen shouting loudly at each other.
"OUR PILGRIM IS GOING TO HAJJ, PLEASE"
In the footage released by Asayiş Berkemal, a woman in the vehicle tried to calm the tension, saying, "There's a child in the car, I'm pregnant. Our pilgrim is going to Hajj, please."
FIRED 2 SHOTS INTO THE AIR
The people in the vehicle claimed that the person who identified himself as a police officer fired two shots into the air during the argument. The moments caused fear and panic in the area.
"THEY FORMED A CONVOY" DEFENSE
The person alleged to be a police officer, however, described the accusations differently. The individual claimed that the vehicles formed a convoy, creating danger in traffic, and that one of the drivers was cutting lanes. He argued that while trying to protect himself and his family, the situation escalated to this point.
