After the crash, the driver claimed he wasn't the one driving and pointed to a citizen who had come to the scene to help, saying, 'He was the one driving the car.' Investigations revealed the driver's lie, and as he had a blood alcohol level of 3.35 promil, he was fined approximately 340,000 Turkish lira.
A driver who got behind the wheel intoxicated for the 5th time in Nevşehir blamed someone else after causing an accident.
VEHICLE LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, DRIVER FLED
The accident occurred near the Police House Junction on Ürgüp Street in Esentepe District. According to the information obtained, the car driven by Önder Ö. hit the curbstones on the median after the driver lost control of the steering wheel. Due to the impact, the vehicle was left in the middle of the road. The driver, unable to move his car from its position after the accident, tried to flee the scene.
BLAMED SOMEONE ELSE WHEN CAUGHT
Following a report from citizens, health and police teams were dispatched to the area. The driver, caught shortly after by police teams, claimed he was not driving the vehicle and pointed to a citizen who came from his home to help after seeing the accident, alleging that person was the driver. During the alcohol check conducted by police teams, Önder Ö. was found to have a blood alcohol level of 3.35 promille.
PREVIOUSLY PENALIZED 4 TIMES
It was learned that the driver had been penalized 4 times before for drunk driving and had his license confiscated. Upon this, teams examining the surrounding security cameras determined that Önder Ö. was the person driving the vehicle involved in the accident.
340 THOUSAND LIRA FINE
After the procedures, the driver was issued an administrative fine of approximately 340 thousand lira for driving without a license and for the 5th time while intoxicated, and the vehicle was impounded. The driver, taken into custody, was brought to the police station for questioning, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
