A bear that entered a pen at night in the Koçyatağı village of Erzincan broke the locked door, causing the death of 144 small livestock. While livestock breeder İsmail Mutlu demands compensation for his loss, village headman Cengiz Kaya called for permanent measures against the increasing bear population in the region.

A bear entered a sheepfold in the village of Koçyatağı, affiliated with the center of Erzincan, during the night hours and killed 144 small livestock. After the bear, which was determined to have entered by breaking the locked door, caused damage, the victimized livestock breeder asked authorities for support, while the village head called for urgent measures against the increasing bear population.

BROKE THE DOOR AND ENTERED

The incident occurred in a sheepfold belonging to livestock breeder İsmail Mutlu in Koçyatağı village. The bear broke the locked door of the sheepfold during the night and attacked the flock. After the incident was noticed, gendarmerie and Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams were dispatched to the region upon the report. In the examinations conducted by the teams at the scene, it was determined that the sheepfold door had been broken and bear claw marks were found on the door. It was established that a total of 144 small livestock were killed.
