According to allegations, a person died under the rubble while illegal excavation was taking place in the Nazilli district of Aydın. While 3 individuals were detained in connection with the incident, it was learned that one person who went missing is being searched for.
One person lost their life in a collapse that occurred during an illegal excavation in Aydın's Nazilli district.
TRAPPED UNDERGROUND
The incident took place on a hill near the rural Yeşildere neighborhood of Nazilli. According to reports, one of the four individuals who were found to be conducting illegal excavation was trapped underground during the excavation carried out with heavy machinery. Güngör Avcı (59), who was seriously injured in the collapse, was determined to have died during the examination conducted by the UMKE, AFAD, and Gendarmerie teams that arrived at the scene upon notification.
3 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY
While a large pit was observed to have formed during the illegal excavation, gendarmerie teams took 3 individuals into custody in connection with the incident. It was learned that the suspects stated in their testimonies that they were conducting illegal excavation. It was also reported that efforts were underway to capture a suspect whose name was not disclosed and who had fled.
Efforts have been initiated to retrieve Güngör Avcı, who was trapped under the sliding soil at the excavation site. It was learned that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
