A citizen who went in search of rock honey in the Palu district of Elazığ found honeycombs completely naturally made by bees on steep cliffs and captured the moment with his mobile phone. This rare honey, which can reach up to 8,500 lira per kilogram, once again showcased the region's rich nature.
In the Kırbulak village connected to the Palu district of Elazığ, the natural rock honey produced by bees under the harsh and untouched conditions of nature attracted the attention of those who saw it.
The honey, which emerged through the intense labor of bees in a steep rocky area, and the bee swarm around it, was recorded moment by moment with a mobile phone camera by a citizen named Bayram Özdoğan. While these unique images that emerged proved the region's rich natural biodiversity, they also reminded once again under how difficult conditions this honey, produced without human touch, is formed.
ITS PRICE GOES UP TO 8 THOUSAND 500 LIRAS PER KILO
This type of honey, which wild bees build with their own means in steep cliffs and hard-to-reach caves, finds buyers at considerably higher prices compared to standard honeys due to its rare presence in nature and the great difficulties involved in its harvest. The value of this rare product, produced at high altitudes entirely within nature's own flow without human intervention, can reach thousands of liras depending on its quality.
According to internet and retail sales data, the kilogram price of rock honey is offered for sale at figures ranging on average between 3 thousand 500 TL and 8 thousand 500 TL, depending on the place of production and its organic structure. Rock honey, which stands out with its unique aroma and completely natural structure, is entirely distinct from standard honey types in both its production and price.
