Aaliyah, one of the unforgettable names of R&B music, lost her life in a plane crash that occurred in the Bahamas on August 25, 2001. The death of the artist, who passed away at just 22 years old, caused great sorrow in the music world.

Aaliyah's ex-boyfriend Damon "Dame" Dash gave an exclusive interview to Us Weekly magazine on the anniversary of the death of the artist, known as the "Princess of R&B." Dash shared striking details about the conversation he had with Aaliyah before the crash.
"I NEVER LIKED THE PLANE"
According to Dash, Aaliyah was preparing to return from the Bahamas to Florida after completing the filming of the "Rock the Boat" music video.
It was stated that Aaliyah sent a message to Dash before the flight saying, "I never liked the plane." Dash then said he told her not to board the plane, but Aaliyah stated she had to return due to the video shoot.
Dash said Aaliyah was always afraid of flying and felt something unsettling about the plane in question.
9 PEOPLE DIED IN THE CRASH
Aaliyah and 8 others with her lost their lives when the plane that took off from the Bahamas crashed shortly after on August 25, 2001.
In the investigation report prepared after the crash, it was revealed that the plane was carrying approximately 317 kilograms of excess weight and that the cargo was not distributed in a balanced manner. It was also noted that the pilot did not have the necessary authorization to fly the plane and that prohibited substances were found in his blood.
Two months after Aaliyah's death, the "Rock the Boat" music video was released. The artist's family filed a lawsuit against the production company responsible for transportation arrangements in the Bahamas. The lawsuit concluded in 2003 when the parties reached a confidential settlement.
