In the Turgutlu district of Manisa, Vedat Yılmaz (55) shot and killed his wife Ulviye Yılmaz (55), whom he was in the process of divorcing after an argument, and injured his daughter E.D.Y. (18) with the same gun's handle when she tried to intervene. Yılmaz was taken into custody by the police after the incident.
INJURED HIS DAUGHTER WHO TRIED TO INTERVENE
The incident occurred in the morning hours on Kervan Road in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood. An argument broke out for an undetermined reason between weighbridge operator Vedat Yılmaz and his wife Ulviye Yılmaz, from whom he was in the process of divorcing. As the argument escalated, Vedat Yılmaz drew his gun and shot his wife, and also hit his daughter E.D.Y. on the head with the gun's handle, injuring her when she tried to intervene. Upon notification from neighbors who heard the sounds, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. After initial medical intervention, the injured mother and daughter were taken to Turgutlu State Hospital.

Ulviye Yılmaz, who was taken into treatment in the emergency room, could not be saved despite doctors' efforts. E.D.Y. was discharged after treatment. The police took Vedat Yılmaz into custody after the incident. It was learned that Ulviye Yılmaz had previously obtained a restraining order against her husband, whom she was in the process of divorcing, on several occasions, while the police launched an investigation into the incident.
